Hello back at ya!
Welcome aboard!
Have you done a lot of reading? I know I do a lot more reading than posting.
Just curious....what's your story? Are you still in? Are you out? Fading? DF'd? DA'd? What's your MO?

i don't know if this is a worldwide thing because i didn't go the meeting where the arrangement was announced, but it's being done in my congregation anyway.
during those 6 months the member assigned to the pioneer is meant to make time to work with the pioneer as much as possible, so they can strengthen each other.
the idea is meant to be that eventually each member of the congregation will get a go.
As has already been mentioned - its called the Pioneer Assist Program.
The program has been around for years and gets dusted off every few years by the odd circuit overseer or zealous local service overseer.
It's a fairly effective cult building technique that "strengthens" the "weak", and pulls the circle just a little tighter.
I am looking forward to seeing the great exodus from this cult. Momentum is building. The end of the WT is drawing close.
anyone care to guess why?.
(a) she was concerned about the fires and if bd and i were ok.. (b) she called to tell me she was planning to attend the 2009 international convention in peru.. (c) she called to tell me my cousin's husband has brain cancer.. (d) (a) and (b).
pick a answer any answer, only one is the correct answer.. philip.
Hey Pec
My gut tells me to go with (E), but I hope I'm wrong...
Peace Out
The Oracle
but now, holidays are important to me.
i think birthdays and xmas are important ones to make sure that you give and get gifts.
perhaps it's because i never experienced the "joy of the holidays".
I have never celebrated a birthday.
Never celebrated Christmas or anything else.
It's very strange.
Secretly I loved Christmas time. I loved the snow and lights. It seemed so magical.
The spirit of giving seemed so pure.
Even though the WT tried to sell us on the fact that everyone really hates Christmas, I never fully bought in to that.
Although I did believe there were no doubt some "worldly" people who might not like it because of the long line-ups, commercialism, or some of the potential politics associated with gift giving and receiving.... - I knew that most people LOVED IT!
And I missed it.
I imagined what it would be like to be a part of a big family on Christmas morning. Everyone dressed all cuddly in their cuddle clothes and enjoying a breakfast together. Opening presents, having big laughs together.
Yes indeed. Such an evil pagan festival....
One day I will experience the evil that is Christmas.

deuteronomy 18:20-22
20 but a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything i have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death.
21 you may say to yourselves, "how can we know when a message has not been spoken by the lord ?
Hey KW13,
That scripture from Deut is now my all time favorite scripture, knocking off Psalm 83:18 as the #1 ranked scripture of all time.
It was one of the scriptures that lead to my awakening....
ANY JW with a working brain, cannot read that scripture and at some level, have a spark go off in their head....
all it takes is a spark...
to muster the courage
to insert the wedge of curiosity
to apply the hammer of research
to swing the crowbar of independent thinking...
Then maybe a cold shower to wash away the rationalizations and the excuses
hit the internet and visit a few websites
sprinkle in some old fashioned meditation
and voila
FREE-DOM!
And what a wonderful place to be...

i recently saw my jw brother and sil and listened to them talk about poor sister sick(o) who has been diagnosed with major mental problems.
she went to the doctor's and the doctor supposedly began to berate her out of the blue because she is a jehovah's witness.
now the family wants to have the doctor formally rebuked for his so called "discriminatory comments".
Excellent JK666,
All 100 reasons make perfect sense.

i'm tired of being an apostate, atheist, agnostic, take your pick.
i was going to start calling myself a heretic, but then i decided to look up apostate in the thesaurus.
look at all the lovely words we have to choose from:.
hmmm...
yes dissident is quite good. Kind of gives you the feeling that that person is not going to sit idly by and watch injustice unfold
maverick is pretty cool sounding. Gives you the feeling that that person is going to enblazon some new trails, break apart from the pack, and make something of him or herself.
apostate really ain't that bad either. An apostate is not going to take any crap, and they are going to oppose and struggle against - until their last breath.
Another one I quite like is Freedom Fighter. That's what I have sanctimoniously dubbed (pardon the pun) myself as. A FREEDOM FIGHTER. I want to see my friends and family freed from the tryrannical grip of a man-made organization that seeks to control and judge, when it is woefully inadequately qualified to do so.
LET FREEDOM RING!

i don't like cigarettes all that much (even though i actually tried to take up the habit, i found out i don't have an addictive personality - same reason why i'm not a coffee person either) but i do enjoy a nice cigar.
notice i said a nice cigar, not those nasty chemically-flavored things that taste like froot loops and smell like a crotch fire.
i'm talking about a nice cuban monte cristo or a real leaf-wrapped cigarillo.
Hey BrentR,
That was interesting info about why you grow the tobacco in pails however this line...
I got a sticky residue on my fingers that I rolled up into a ball. Sorta a tobacco "finger hash" that was some amazing strong stuff to smoke.
concerned me a little. LOL!
Perhaps it is totally normal.
At any rate, I look forward to smoking a nice Cuban cigar one day. I hear they are quite a bit better than the cigars you can buy in the States.

That is quite the bumper crop BrentR.
Do you have to grow it in pails?
